OPM Comes Alive at the First Ever MYX Squad Fest back-to-back with MYX Music Awards 2018

Araneta Coliseum was bursting with life as MYX held a double event with the MYX Squad Fest back to back with the MYX Music Awards 2018. From the Red Carpet, to the performance stages, the night was filled with the biggest, and hottest stars of OPM.

Even before the awarding began, fans were treated to an amazing set of performances with MYX Squad Fest. Featuring the hottest young artists on the verge of chart-topping success, the night came alive with performances by Jayda Avanzado, Tala, Claudia, Maris Racal, Fern., and AC Bonifacio.

Young power couples, #KissTon (Kisses Delavin and Tony Labrusca), and #MayWard (Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber), also gave kilig-worthy performances, plus a powerful duet performed by Janina Vela and Donnie Pangilinan. And not to be missed were groups, #Hashtags and BoyBandPH, with a grand finale by Ex Battalion with “Hayaan Mo Sila”.

The Awards show kicked off with a mash-up of all the nominated songs of the year, performed by Marlisa, Klarisse de Guzman, TJ Monterde, #ElNella (Elmo Magalona and Janella Salvador), Kiana Valenciano, John Roa, Darren Espanto, and Ylona Garcia.

We also saw some amazing collabs between Shanti Dope and Inigo Pascual with their version of “Nadarang”, and Jona, Jay R and REQ’s rendition of “Take it to Forever”.

In between unforgettable performances by Julie Anne San Jose, Midnasty, Yeng Constantino and IV of Spades, fans and current MYX VJs alike got hit by bouts of sweet nostalgia as previous MYX VJs made guest appearances throughout the night. Among the familiar faces were Heart Evangelista, Nikki Gil, Chino Lui Pio and Bianca Roque, as well as Iya Villania and Luis Manzano, making the night seem more like a giant MYX VJ reunion.

This year’s MYX Magna Award recipient was Martin Nievera, and as a testament to his major contributions to the Philippine music industry, several well-known artists performed a tribute, including OPM stars, Karylle, Jed Madela, Erik Santos, Yael Yuzon, Morissette, Angeline Quinto, Kyla, Jake Zyrus, KZ Tandingan, and Christian Bautista, along with Martin’s son, Robin.

It was truly a night to remember, not just for the year’s award winning artists, but also for their dedicated, and hard-working fans who’ve voted day and night for their favorite artists.
