Sevilla on European Quarter Finals for the First Time, Against Mainstays Bayern

For the first time in sixty years, Sevilla moves into Champion League Quarter Final stage. Up against Champions League quarter final regulars, the Spanish team holds a record of W7, D4, and have never lost home to visitors from Germany.

Bayern Munich won’t be letting their guards down, despite holding far more quarter-finals experience, considering they’ve suffered defeats in their last five trips to Spain. With the guidance of Heynckes, who’s led them to finals every season he’s ever coached, the German team will hold steady on their 17th time in the quarter-finals.

JUVENTUS (ITA) VS. REAL MADRID (ESP, HOLDERS)

Last Season’s Finalists Reunite for Final Eight

It’s been 10 months since Real Madrid defeated Juventus 4-1 and took home last season’s Champions League trophy. Juventus, for sure, aims to have their revenge.

The Italian team has so far only lost two of eight Champions League matches against Real Madrid, and they’ve won the last four knockout ties this season. However, with half of their first-team players suffering injuries, Juventus will be having quite the challenge against Real Madrid – at least, for the first leg of the quarter-finals.

BARCELONA (ESP) VS. ROMA (ITA)

  • 1st Leg: April 5 2:40AM Live BeIN Sports 2
  • 2nd Leg: April 11 2:40AM Live BeIN Sports 2

Barca is another regular at the Champions League Quarter-finals, second only to Bayern Munich. The team currently sits comfortably on top of the La Liga table; and of the two out of three times the Spanish team lost against Italian opponents on quarterfinal matches, it was Juventus kicking them out of competition back in 2002-03 and 2016-17

They’ve faced Roma four times before on UEFA matches, each team taking one victory, with the other two times being draws. In their last bout in Camp Nou for season 2016-17, Barcelona had claimed victory 6-1, with goals from both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Given Barca’s record of 12 matches unbeaten against Italian teams on Camp Nou, Roma’s definitely going to have it tough this leg.

LIVERPOOL (ENG) VS. MANCHESTER CITY (ENG)

  • 1st Leg: April 5 2:40AM Live (Same day replay 10AM & 1030PM) BeIN Sports 1
  • 2nd Leg: April 11 2:40AM Live (Same day replay 12:20PM & 1030PM) BeIN Sports 1

Liverpool and Manchester bring their domestic rivalry to international competition

Already well acquainted with each other through previous Premier League matches, the two teams will face each other for the first time on a European stage.

While this will be Liverpool’s first time in nine years on European Cup quarter-finals stage, this is only Manchester City’s second time ever. Liverpool will definitely be hungry for that win, having made it this far, but with City’s solid dynamics under Pep Guardiola, the competition’s going to be pretty tight.

The chances for a draw are high, as the two Premier League contests between these teams for this term have returned 12 goals, with Liverpool netting as many as 28 – a tournament high for this season.

Outside of the Champions League, the two teams have faced each other in 178 games, with the Reds taking victory of 87 to City’s 45, and 46 draws.
