Sun Outage is characterized by the interruption in satellite signals caused by interference from solar radiation. Twice a year, the sun is in a direct line with a communications satellite and its radiation overwhelms the satellite’s signal. This, in turn, causes disruptions to the feed of several channels sourced from the satellite.

It is expected to occur within the period of September 19 to October 9, but will peak within the period of September 26 to October 2, 2016. Effects of the sun outage may last for a few minutes per day.
