It may be hard to believe, but it’s true. There are only few weeks ‘til Christmas, and a handful of days more 'til the end of 2018. And what a mind-blowing year it’s been, especially with all the major blockbusters that came out throughout the year!
We’ve had a fair few that left us breathless, and a few that had us singing OSTs for months on end. We’ve had more than a handful which made for some pretty funny and witty memes, and a choice couple of titles that had us dabbing at teary eyes.
Rather than dwell on the farewells, let us focus instead on the things they've left us with - unforgettable lessons, and precious memories, incredible experiences, and sensational storytelling. Here's to another year of cinematic marvels - incredible stories and entire universes collapsed into hour-long reels; and here's to more wonderful selections for future movie nights.
This month of December, FOX Movies treats you to Nights of Incredible, featuring box office hits from these past few years. Count down to the end of the year with blockbusters every night at 9:00PM.
Still, 31 movies is a lot to sift through, so we’ve taken the liberty of picking out the top 7 movies you definitely won’t want to miss out on.
Jurassic World
December 2, Sunday, 9:00PM
It seems not all lessons are learned through time, as shown in the 2015’s reboot of the Jurassic franchise. Really, people should’ve known by now that making bigger monsters only mean bigger (and inevitable) trouble. If anything, however, this blockbuster benchmarks just how far technology has come into making truly immersive and memorable experiences out of massive-scale movies.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
December 14, Friday, 9:00PM
The fun in watching Avenger movies, especially for those who follow the Marvel franchise near religiously, is seeing how all these individual characters, with their own rich stories, come together in the bigger picture. Like pieces of a puzzle, they all somehow fit and come together, without losing their unique and eccentric personalities that made them fan-favorites in the first place.
The Changeover
December 20, Thursday, 9:00PM
For a young-adult novel adaptation, The Changeover is one of those rare species that don’t turn out as a flop – which is even more astonishing, for a book where crucial events take place in the human mind. If you’re looking for an escape from Hallmark-esque, and clichéd Christmas-themed movies, you won’t regret taking a chance on this fantasy thriller.
Avengers: Infinity War
December 22, Saturday, 9:00PM
FOX Movie’s movie premiere of the month, Avengers: Infinity War, is without a doubt, one that people will remember 2018 by. The recent death of Marvel Universe creator Stan Lee only makes the latest instalment of the Avengers film even more of a treasure. Box office sales aside, it also made for some pretty good memes – from Spiderman’s ashen, “I don’t feel so good,” to Thanos’s dreaded snap.
Ferdinand
December 24, Monday, 9:00PM
Shower your Christmas with a family-friendly movie loaded with positive messages and a heart-warming tale. Amidst very real incidents of violence and bullying gone wrong, this story of a lover-not-a-fighter bull sets a pretty admirable and much needed moral standard. Ferdinand is the type of movie perfect for a family with a lot of young ones, all waiting for Santa to arrive on Christmas Eve.
Pitch Perfect 2
December 25, Tuesday, 9:00PM
Take a break from Jingle Bells with more antics from the Barden Bellas. Pitch Perfect 2 came with new characters, and original songs, which, combined with Fat Amy’s well-timed witty lines and even more pop anthem medleys, made for a perfect harmony of light-hearted fun, and cheesy sentimentality. It’ll be difficult for the whole family to not enjoy singing along, even while snacking over Christmas leftovers.
Coco
December 26, Wednesday, 9:00PM
There might not be a more perfect movie to cap off the year than Coco. With the Holiday Season gathering Filipinos over day-long reunions and feasts, this movie will be perfect for winding down with the whole family. With all its spectacular scenes and memorable characters, Coco will tug at heartstrings young and old.
