SKYathon 2018 focuses on Boracay Reef Rehabilitation, postpones the run
March 06, 2018 04:27 PM
SKYathon, the first destination run in the country, shall focus on the coral “Reefurbishment” and mangrove planting Boracay on April 21 as it moves the run to a date and location that will be announced soon.
"We will push through with our #LoveBoracay advocacy as it is the spirit behind SKYathon. It is our way of showing our support to the calls for an island-wide environmental restoration effort. We shall let the sands of Boracay rest, and let the experts pave the way in restoring the island," SKY Airtime senior marketing manager Delbert Santos said.
SKYathon is already on its ninth year and has been a vehicle for environmental causes and island-saving efforts since it started. Portions of the proceeds from previous SKYathons have been channeled to a coral reef rehabilitation program.
Registration for the run has been suspended while organizers finalize the plans. Participants can watch out for an announcement to be made soon, including foreign individuals who have been officially welcomed by SKYathon to join the run.
"We enjoin everyone to be one for the environment and welcome all who wish to be a part of the run, wherever it may be held," Santos said.
