Check out when and what to watch out for at this year’s big tours.

Giro d’Italia
For the first time ever, the starting line of Giro d’Italia will be held outside of Europe, kicking off with a 9.7km time trial in Jerusalem, followed by two more stages in Israeli soil. This year’s route also features 8 summit finishes and 2 time trials, including climbs up Etna, Zoncalan and Finestre, and a 34.5 kilometre individual time trial, all in the course of over 3 weeks.
Team Sky's Chris Froome is determined to take the GC of this year’s Giro d’Italia, along with the other world tours. Joining him in the start list are defending champion Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb), and Italy’s national champion Fabio Aru.

Le Tour de France
The 105th edition of the Tour de France features the hairpin-loaded climb of Alpe d’Huez, as well as 21.7 kilometres of cobble on the stage of Roubaix, returning for the first time since 2015. Beginning in the Vendee region on the 7th of July, GC riders will have to go through several summit finishes – including the queen stage, with 200km of some of the best climbs of the Tour – before the individual time trial that’s arguably tougher than last year’s.
Last year saw Chris Froome of Team Sky take the yellow jersey, with Sunweb’s Warren Barguil took mountains classification, after green jersey regular Peter Sagan was disqualified due to last year's unfortunate crash, which endangered Mark Cavendish and a slew of other riders.

Vuelta a Espana
The last World Tour of the year, Vuelta a Espana, will feature a total of nine explosive summit stages, along with an opening time trial, and a 32.7km race against time in week three. Kicking off in Andalusia, the 73rd edition of Vuelta will consist of relatively short stages, with only stage 11 above the 200 kilometre mark at 208.8km, but will be packed with grueling summit finishes. The tour will start on August 25, and will run until September 16.
