Triple Grand Prix Weekends to Watch Out for this April on FOX Sports
April 11, 2018 06:35 PM
Formula 1 season officially began two weeks ago at the Australian Grand Prix, with Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel getting a huge stroke of luck, snatching first place right under Lewis Hamilton’s nose. Despite a less than stellar performance over the weekend, the German managed to land a spot on top of the podium for the first race of the season, thanks to a software glitch on Mercedes’ part and a perfectly timed Virtual Safety Car.
Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton finished second place – despite attempts to take back his lead position – with Kimi Raikkonen taking another win for Ferrari at third. But not without an exciting showdown against Daniel Ricciardo, who ended up taking 4th position.
Based from the overall performances during the Australia GP, it seems F1 fans will be getting the three-way title fight they’ve been gearing up for. With three Grand Prix races happening this April, we’ll be seeing if the competition will remain tight.
Bahrain Grand Prix
The first of the races, which happened last April 8 in Bahrain, saw Sebastian Vettel proving his mettle. Relying not on luck but pure perfromance and good tyre management, Vettel again came first on the Sakhir tracks.
Chinese Grand Prix
Another 2004 track debutant, the Shanghai International Circuit is known for its challenging turns and high-speed straights, demanding a lot, both from driver and car. Last year’s saw Hamilton taking top spot on the podium, followed closely by Vettel with Verstappen coming in third.
Azarbaijan Grand Prix
The third race for the month is happening in Baku, Azarbaijan, the latest addition to the Formula One calendar. Last year’s podium saw Daniel Ricciardo on top, though Sebastian Vettel currently holds the record for fastest lap. This is also home of last year’s controversial collision between rivals Vettel and Hamilton; hopefully this year will see a cleaner competition.
From qualifying to race day, don’t miss out on all this motorsport action on Fox Sports.
