Melinda Uy (Sharon Cuneta) is a billionaire widow who started from nothing and ended up becoming one of the most influential women in the country. However, things weren't always so perfect for Melinda. She always felt like an outcast because she is half Filipino and half Chinese. When she married Alfonso (Christopher de Leon), her Chinese in-laws deemed her to be unlucky. When Alfonso dies suddenly, Melinda is forced to live with her in-laws along with her children. Alfonso's family didn't treat her well, and they eventually take all her children away from her, all except for Carol (Ciara Sotto). Melinda has struggled to fix her relationship with all of her children especially with Stephanie (Heart Evangelista). Can Melinda ever fix her life and bring her family together again?

Totoy and Bernadette (Vice Ganda and Ai Ai de Las Alas) were half-siblings living under the same roof. But Totoy and his mother were thrown out of the house once the affair came to light. Years later, Totoy, now known as Bernice, is a successful fashion magnate. Bernadette on the other hand is looking for a job. She applies for the position of Bernice’s assistant, without realizing their connection. Bernice sees this as her chance to get revenge. He hires Bernadette, fully intending to make her life miserable. But his sister turns out to be made of hardy stuff, surviving all the trials. So much so, that Bernice’s rival Roselle (Kris Aquino) starts eyeing Bernadette.

Rina and Elwood (AndiEigenmann and Billy Crawford) are planning to get married. Their plans are thrown into disarray, however, when their mothers meet for the first time. It turns out that Elwood’s mother Clara (Maricel Soriano) and Rina’s mother Minerva (Eugene Domingo) share a little bit of history. Minerva’s former husband cheated on her with Clara. The two immediately get into it, and swear that there will be no wedding. The hapless young couple tries to get them to reconcile by locking them in a room on a yacht during their bridal shower. But a fierce typhoon changes their plans yet again. The yacht capsizes, and the mothers awaken on a deserted beach.
