6 Life Lessons You can Learn from Superhero Films

June 06, 2015 07:48 PM

There is nothing like an action-packed comic bookmovie or series to make a geek’s heart beat faster. They are great entertainment for the whole family too.

But what’s great about superhero films is that these kind of stories open one’s imagination, and inspire us to become more than who we really are --  real life heroes who can make a difference in the world.

Here are some real life lessons you can learn from watching and re-watching your favorite super heroes this month on SKYcable:

1.    Rise above Prejudice

X-Men deal with stories of mutants with extraordinary powers, who walk around ostracized, feeling different in the world. But despite all that, these mutants have the capacity to do good for society.

2.    “With Great Power comes Great Responsibility.”

Acquiring power is a great feat. But it can either make us better or destroy us. Peter Parker chose the latter by becoming Spiderman, a crime-fighter who swings from one building to another helping people who need help most.

Spiderman

Catch Spider-man on June 18 4:40PM and June 23 10:55AM, Spider-man 2 on June 19 5PM and June 24 11:35AM and Spider-man 3 on June 20 3:45PM and June 25  11:55AM - all on Fox Movies Premium HD.

3.    Open yourself to Unlikely Heroes

An alcoholic superhero named John Hancock is not exactly what we expect of “what a hero should be”. He flies sideways and causes millions of dollars of damage in the city due to his intoxication. All these change when he meets Ray Embrey who creates a PR makeover, and Hancock finds himself helping the city more than he should.

Catch Hancock on Fox Movies Premium HD on June 11, 9PM.

4.    Nothing is more courageous than a pure heart.

Steve Rogers might be a humble, old-fashioned goody-goody but these traits are exactly what makes him the great superhero known as Captain America. He stands up for what he believes is right and fights for truth, liberty and freedom.

Captain America: Winter Soldier

Catch Captain America: The Winter Soldier on Fox Movies Premium HD on June 7 2:55PM and on June 20 9:30PM and on June 23 6:40PM.

5.    Music is a powerful force.

There’s a lot to learn from Guardians of the Galaxy, but one of the most notable lesson one can absorb from it is in the form of its excellent mix tape of an OST. Peter Quill, also known as Star Lord, pops on earphones of a 1980s Walkman and listens to his tunes all through out the adventure of the film. His music connects him to the memories of his mom, and further, to important matters like hope, love and joy.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Catch Guardians of the Galaxy on Fox Movies Premium HD on June 6, 9PM and on June 12 3:20PM as well as June 11 and June 14 at 6:55PM.

6.    Life can change in an attosecond.

When a forensic scientist with a traumatic past was granted with superhuman speed after being struck by a bolt of lightning, it reminds you how life is never static. Barry Allen, also known as “The Flash”, lives that story as a man who runs as fast as lightning, and uses his superhuman abilities to fight crime.
