Sun Outage is characterized by the interruption in satellite signals caused by interference from solar radiation.
Why does it happen?
Twice a year, the sun is in a direct line with a communications satellite and its radiation overwhelms the satellite’s signal. This, in turn, causes disruptions to the feed of several channels sourced from the satellite.
How long will it last?
It is expected to occur within the last week of September until first week of October. Effects of the sun outage may last for a few minutes per day.
How does it affect my viewing?
SKYcable subscribers may notice brief disruptions in picture and sound quality when watching certain channels.
SKYdirect subscribers may experience brief but simultaneous disruptions in all channels within their line up.
What if it lasts for more than several minutes?
Let us know if you experience extended periods of signal disruption.
